Two projects in Armstrong County have received Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants totaling $4 million, as announced by Sen. Joe Pittman and Reps. Abby Major and Donna Oberlander.
ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township will receive $3.5 million to upgrade its electrical infrastructure. The project includes replacing original transformers with new ones and installing a new main distribution switchboard.
Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) in Rayburn Township has been awarded $500,000 for constructing a new shelter building. The facility will incorporate sustainable features such as solar panels, geothermal heating, and energy-efficient windows.
“Investing in these projects is about helping our communities have the resources they need to thrive,” said Pittman. “The funding awarded today will open new opportunities and expand upon previous initiatives throughout our region.”
Major emphasized the importance of hospital safety: “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our hospital in Armstrong County is essential to protecting patients and our healthcare workers.”
Oberlander highlighted the environmental benefits of the OOTS project: “By investing in the Orphans of the Storm Shelter (OOTS), we are not only improving the facilities but also embracing environmentally friendly practices.”
The RACP is managed by the Office of the Budget for regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects that have a significant impact on employment or economic activity.
