FOIA Request to Armstrong County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central PA News have sent a request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., to the Armstrong County Election Department. The request was made for records of all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.
The specifics of our request include obtaining a list with the first, middle, and last names of each candidate. We also asked for information about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, as well as their party affiliation.
To ensure that we can reach out to these candidates for comments or further information, we also requested their contact details. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. In light of this role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
