The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has allocated over $6 million in infrastructure grants to Indiana County, Pennsylvania. The funding comprises more than $3.2 million from the Local Share Account (LSA) and over $2.8 million from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG). These funds aim to enhance public infrastructure and school facilities in the area.

Senator Joe Pittman emphasized the significance of these grants, stating, “Infrastructure projects of any size can be expensive for municipalities. I’m pleased to have worked to ensure this state support will assist with necessary improvements to improve health, safety and education within our communities.”

Eight projects across Indiana County have secured LSA funding. The most substantial grant of $887,525 was awarded to Highridge Water Authority for installing waterlines and fire hydrants in Burrell Township.

LSA funds originate from gaming revenues under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004, aimed at supporting public interest projects within Pennsylvania.

Additionally, PSFIG funds were granted to the Indiana County Technology Center, totaling $2,829,412. This grant will facilitate a roof replacement and HVAC system upgrade at the center.

Representative Jim Struzzi expressed optimism about the impact of these projects: “The seven projects in my district will help with redevelopment and rehabilitation of our communities, improve stormwater and wastewater infrastructure, and benefit the economy and students at the Indiana County Technology Center.”

The CFA was established as an independent agency within Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development in 2004 to manage economic stimulus packages for the state.
