Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman responded to Governor Josh Shapiro’s recent announcement regarding an agreement with PJM, the electricity grid operator. Pittman expressed skepticism about the impact of this agreement on energy costs in Pennsylvania.

In his statement, Pittman remarked, “The governor has touted an agreement this week with PJM, the grid operator for our electricity. This announcement does nothing to make energy less expensive in Pennsylvania.” He further criticized the claim of $21 billion in savings, stating that it is unlikely consumers will benefit from these savings as “rates will continue to rise even under this agreement.”

Pittman’s comments highlight ongoing concerns about energy pricing and its implications for consumers within the state.
