Rep. Abby Major and Sen. Joe Pittman have announced over $32,000 in Local Share Account grants for projects in Hyde Park and West Leechburg. These funds are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority as part of Act 71 of 2004, which allocates gaming revenues to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.

Major expressed satisfaction with the funding from Live! Casino Pittsburgh, highlighting its role under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. “I’m pleased to see funds distributed back to the community,” she stated, noting that these grants address significant needs without imposing additional financial burdens on residents.

Pittman commended Major’s efforts in advocating for local projects. “The investment of these grant funds will have a positive impact within the community,” he said, emphasizing their importance for necessary upgrades in Hyde Park Borough and West Leechburg Borough.

The grants include $12,541 for Hyde Park Borough to purchase a new hose with connectors for its Volunteer Fire Company, eliminating the need for multiple adaptors during emergencies. West Leechburg Borough will receive $20,685 to replace an outdated HVAC system in its borough building.

These developments affect various areas within Major’s 60th Legislative District, covering parts of Armstrong County and Westmoreland County.
