Marcellus Shale impact fees benefit Pennsylvania’s 60th District

Almost $2.187 million in impact fees from Marcellus Shale drilling companies will be allocated to benefit the residents of Pennsylvania’s 60th District, according to Representative Abby Major. The funds will be distributed directly to municipalities and counties within Armstrong and Westmoreland.

For the year 2024, natural gas producers contributed over $164.5 million in impact fees across the state, totaling more than $2.88 billion since 2012. “For more than a decade, impact fees have helped municipalities and counties in a variety of ways and lessened the impact of drilling in our communities,” Major stated. “Every dollar plays an important role in assisting with services and projects in our area.”

The disbursements for the 60th District are as follows: Allegheny Township will receive $34,341; Apollo Borough $6,935; Applewood Borough $1,426; Bethel Township $8,024; Burrell Township $12,857; Cadogan Township $1,590; East Franklin Township $161,982; East Vandergrift Borough $805; Ford City Borough $12,662; Ford Cliff Borough $1,693; Freeport Borough $19,561; Gilpin Township $14,398; Hyde Park Borough $966; Kiskiminetas Township $27,519; Leechburg Borough $9,488; City of Lower Burrell $17,156; Manor Township–$67,020; Manorville Borough $1,669; North Apollo Borough $5,756; North Buffalo Township $59,724; Parks Township $13,322; South Bend Township $15,137; South Buffalo Township $113,227; Vandergrift Borough$6,640 ; West Kittanning Borough$5 ,163 ; West Leechburg Borough$2 ,545 .

Armstrong County is set to receive an additional amount of approximately$634 ,262 while Westmoreland County will get around$1 .045 million.

The 60th Legislative District encompasses various townships including Bethel,Burrell,Cadogan ,East Franklin,Gilpin,Kiskiminetas ,Manor ,North Buffalo,Parks ,South Bend,and South Buffalo as well as boroughs such as Apollo ,Applewold,Ford City,Ford Cliff ,Freeport ,Leechburg ,Manorville,Northern Apollo,and West Kittanning within Armstrong County .It also covers Allegheny Township,Eastern Vandergrift,Hypde Park,Vandergrift,and Western Leechburg boroughs along with part of Lower Burrell city located inside Westmoreland County .
