The nation’s largest natural gas-powered data center is set to be constructed at the Homer City Generating Station site, according to an announcement from State Representative Jim Struzzi of Indiana. The development is expected to have significant economic benefits for Indiana County, the surrounding region, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In a statement, Jim Struzzi highlighted the potential impact of the project, stating, “The new natural gas-powered plant and AI data center planned for Homer City represents an incredible new future for Indiana County, our region, and the Commonwealth. We must use our natural resources to grow our economy and unleash our energy potential.”
The Homer City Redevelopment project is anticipated to generate 3,500 construction jobs during its peak phases and provide long-term positions conducive to supporting families once it’s operational. Struzzi emphasized his commitment to fostering such developments: “As a legislative leader, I am committed to reducing government red tape and unfair energy taxes to bring more development similar to Homer City to communities throughout our Commonwealth.”
