State Representative Brian Smith of the Pennsylvania 66th Legislative District announced funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) aimed at enhancing recreation and conservation efforts. The funds, totaling over $104,000, come from the DCNR’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program and are designated for organizations within the district.

Big Run Borough is scheduled to receive $65,000 to undertake enhancements to the Veteran’s Park. The Marienville Trail Riders Snowmobile Club has been allocated $39,400 to support the construction and upkeep of approximately 200 miles of trails spanning six counties, including Jefferson County.

“The projects chosen to receive funding are a great representation of some of our district’s greatest assets,” stated Smith. “Our veterans and our extensive trail network both deserve to be celebrated, and this funding will help make sure they will be celebrated for years to come.”
