Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman has issued a statement following the appearance of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue Secretary Pat Browne before the Senate. This appearance came after what Pittman described as “significant urging” to address Browne’s previous refusal to comply with a subpoena from the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee.

Pittman expressed appreciation for Browne’s presence and noted that new information had emerged during the proceedings. He stated, “We are encouraged by new information brought to light as a result of the proceedings.” Pittman further indicated that upon receiving additional materials promised by Secretary Browne, there would be a comprehensive review conducted.

The review aims to better understand Browne’s rationale and provide legislative recommendations, including potential statutory changes. These changes would have the support of Governor Shapiro and are intended to facilitate a complete audit.
