Punxsutawney Area Hospital has announced the upcoming opening of its new Lab and Outpatient Registration area, marking a significant step in its ongoing facility improvement project. The new outpatient and Emergency Department parking lot, along with the main Emergency Department entrance, will be available for use starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, January 26.

According to the hospital, patients registering for outpatient services such as lab work, cardiopulmonary testing, nuclear medicine, neurology procedures, and radiology procedures should use the new Outpatient Entrance. Those coming for Short Procedure services are advised to continue using the Main Entrance. Staff will be present to assist patients during this transition period.

The hospital also stated that the main Emergency Department entrance will now be open to the general public. “This entrance is located by turning into entrance one and located directly beside the large pylon that says ‘Emergency’. We anticipate there will be a learning curve as the community adjusts to these changes, we ask patients and staff to be patient as we transition through this Phase of the project,” according to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

The hospital expressed gratitude toward staff and community members for their flexibility during these changes. “Punxsutawney Area Hospital extends our sincere thanks to our staff and community for their flexibility and support as we continue improving access, safety, and the overall patient experience. We also gratefully acknowledge Rosebud Mining Company for their generous donation and support, which helped make the Laboratory and Outpatient Entrance project possible. We are excited to begin Phase Three and look forward to the completion of the project.”
