Punxsutawney Area Hospital is set to host an open house for its new Emergency Department on Thursday, June 12th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event marks the completion of Phase One in a four-phase project funded by donors and a USDA loan.
During the open house, attendees will learn about accessing the facility until Phase Two is completed. Until then, both public and emergency services will use the ambulance entrance. Jack Sisk, President of Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PAH), commented on the development: “We are thrilled to be approaching the completion of Phase One of this project. While patient flow may change when the Emergency Department initially opens, we want to assure the community that the transition will be smooth and manageable.”
The official opening date awaits final approvals from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The transition is planned for night hours when fewer patients are present. Signage will guide patients during this period, and staff training has been conducted to ensure familiarity with new systems and protocols.
Phase Two includes developments like an Outpatient Entrance and Laboratory Department and is currently underway. The hospital expressed gratitude towards all contributors who helped make this $25 million project possible.
Special acknowledgments were given to key donors: The Roberts Family for Phase One; Rosebud Mining Company for Phase Two; Fairman Family Foundation & Beverly Fairman for Phase Three; and S&T Bank for Phase Four.
