Senator Joe Pittman, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, provided updates on legislative activities and recent events through his Twitter account in mid-July 2025.
On July 16, Pittman highlighted a recent event in Pittsburgh: “What a great AI Summit in Pittsburgh today hosted by @SenMcCormickPA. #Pennsylvania has an incredible opportunity to showcase our God-given natural resources while being a leading destination for our nation’s #energy needs and cutting-edge technological advancements.” The summit focused on artificial intelligence and its intersection with Pennsylvania’s energy sector and technological development.
Later that day, Pittman addressed the ongoing budget negotiations within the state legislature. On July 16 he posted: “The #PASenate will convene for session this week on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. & on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. While there is still a good deal of work needed to reach a full 2025-26 state budget agreement, our discussions with the House & the Governor continue to advance.”
By July 18, Pittman reported further progress on the budget process. He wrote: “The #PASenate convened for session in Harrisburg this week as work on the 2025-26 state budget progresses. At the conclusion of session on Thursday, I sat down with @pcntv to discuss the status of the 2025-2026 state budget and key issues surrounding it.”
Pennsylvania’s annual state budget process typically involves extensive negotiation between both chambers of the General Assembly and the governor’s office before final passage each summer. The state’s economy includes significant energy production—particularly natural gas—and efforts have been made in recent years to balance economic growth with environmental concerns.
