State Representative Brian Smith has announced a significant investment in Pennsylvania’s water infrastructure. Serving on the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board, Smith revealed the allocation of $242.8 million for 32 water projects across 23 counties.
These projects, slated to improve drinking water and wastewater systems, cover a wide area of the Commonwealth. Notable initiatives include constructing a new drinking water treatment facility in Clearfield County and a flood mitigation project in Cambria County. Additionally, extensive sewer pipe replacement works are planned for Bucks and Somerset counties.
Rep. Smith commented on the funding, stating, “Our water infrastructure is so important, and the only way to ensure it sticks to the high standards we have for it is continued investment. These funds help ensure our water quality remains high, making our most basic needs as dependable as can be.”
Robert Boos, Executive Director of PENNVEST, highlighted the projects’ broader significance, “These projects financed by PENNVEST benefit public health and the environment and support sustainable communities as we advance our shared goal of clean water, safe environment and prosperous communities for our families to enjoy, both now and for future generations.”
PENNVEST, operational since 1988, supports the design and building of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects in Pennsylvania.
