Senator Joe Pittman (R-41), Representative Abby Major (R-60), and Representative Josh Bashline (R-63) announced that Armstrong County will receive $3,614,485 in state grants for eight local projects. The funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program and the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, following approval by the Commonwealth Financing Authority on January 20, 2026.
Senator Pittman stated, “Road network and water and sewer projects are an essential part of maintaining the stability of our communities, but often come with a high cost. I’m pleased to have worked with my colleagues to ensure this state support will be invested locally and can help to assist with necessary improvements. This is a great day, as these projects will improve services to numerous municipalities and residents within our region.”
Representative Major added, “I’m pleased to partner with Sen. Pittman on these important infrastructure upgrades for our area. Some of the projects will improve roadways to allow for smoother travel, while others will address water treatment and stormwater issues. These are necessary improvements which would exponentially increase in cost if delayed as further deterioration would occur.”
Representative Bashline commented, “True progress is measured not by statistics alone, but by how effectively our actions improve the everyday quality of life for the people we serve. This news aligns with this mission, and our district will benefit in the long term.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants designed to promote economic development and ensure transportation safety across Pennsylvania communities. The funds can be used for developing or improving transportation assets such as streetscapes, lighting, sidewalks, pedestrian safety measures, connectivity between transportation systems, and transit-oriented development.
The PA Small Water and Sewer Program supports construction or repair efforts related to water supply systems, sanitary sewers, storm sewers or flood control initiatives.
Senator Pittman represents the 41st Senatorial District which includes Armstrong County as well as Indiana, Jefferson and Westmoreland counties. He serves as Senate Majority Leader according to his official website, where he highlights priorities such as job creation, infrastructure improvement—including support for projects like those announced—law enforcement backing and responsible resource management. Pittman’s legislative efforts focus on ensuring equitable policy consideration for rural areas like Armstrong County alongside urban and suburban regions as detailed online.
Pittman also maintains district offices in Indiana County and other locations throughout his senatorial district for constituent service.
