Senator Cris Dush and State Representative Brian Smith have announced a grant of $300,000 for a transportation project in Jefferson County. The funding, awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, aims to repave several streets in Reynoldsville Borough, which are currently in poor condition.

Smith emphasized the significance of maintaining rural roads, noting, “While not as many cars may travel our rural roads as those in the cities, I would argue they’re even more important. Many of us live several miles away from the nearest grocery store, school or hospital, so we need those roads to be in good shape. This funding is going to help make sure our communities can stay connected, both literally and figuratively.”

Dush highlighted the challenge faced by local governments in maintaining these roads, given their limited resources. “I am pleased that Reynoldsville Borough is receiving this much-needed assistance to improve and repave multiple local streets that are in desperate need of attention. This is a wise, far-reaching investment in our infrastructure that will have a positive public safety impact for residents, motorists, and pedestrians,” he said.

The financial support comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which strives to promote economic development and sustain a safe and dependable transportation system for Commonwealth residents.
