Cost of college went up for all students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania-Main Campus

In-state tuition and fees rose 7.1 percent for 2018-19 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania-Main Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $12,979 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $860 more than the $12,119 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 44.3 percent more than residents this year, or $18,730. Their price tag grew 8.4 percent from $17,271 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. About 5 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,501 students received grants or scholarships totaling $10.5 million and 1,956 students took out student loans totaling more than $18.5 million.

Including all undergraduates (11,483), 7,079 students used grants or scholarships totaling $43.6 million, and 7,419 students took out $49.5 million in federal student loans.
