State Senator Cris Dush and State Representative Paul Takac have announced that Snow Shoe Township in Centre County has been awarded an additional $75,000 in state funding for recreational improvements to Snow Shoe Township Park. The funding will be used to restore the existing baseball field, including the construction of new dugouts and repairs to the infield and outfield surfacing.
"I’m beyond pleased that Rep. Takac and I have resolved to put partisanship aside to focus on the critical needs and priorities of the communities we serve," said Senator Dush. "We have consistently and proactively worked together with local officials to bring home more than $2.5 million in state funding throughout 2023 – and now $75,000 more to begin 2024 – all for the benefit of rural Centre County. Again, this is the direct result of placing people, job creation, and economic recovery above political agendas to achieve a greater quality of life."
The grant to renovate Snow Shoe Township Park was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program, which is funded by natural gas impact fees authorized under Act 13 of 2012.
Representative Takac expressed pride in the bipartisan collaboration, saying, "I am proud that once again, Sen. Dush and I have been able to move beyond partisanship and work together to benefit the Snow Shoe community. This Greenways, Trails, and Recreation grant will help improve park amenities, including upgrades to the baseball field, playground, and pathways at Snow Shoe Township Park along Old Side Road. This investment will help enhance the health and well-being of Mountaintop residents for many years to come."
This funding for Snow Shoe Township Park is just one example of the successful partnership between Dush, Takac, and Snow Shoe officials. They have also secured highly competitive state funding for other core infrastructure improvement projects. These include repairs to the Snow Shoe Township building, upgrades at the Moshannon Community Center, and the purchase of a new leaf collection truck for Snow Shoe Borough.
The collaboration between Dush and Takac demonstrates their commitment to serving their constituents and improving the quality of life in rural Centre County. By working together across party lines, they have been able to secure vital funding for important community projects. This additional $75,000 will contribute to the economic recovery and well-being of the Snow Shoe community.
