State Representative Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) recently recognized Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Korbin Erickson, an Indiana Area High School senior and member of Jimmy Stewart Composite Squadron 714 / NER- PA- 253, for his outstanding achievement in receiving CAP's Amelia Earhart Award. This prestigious award is earned by only approximately 5% of CAP youth program members and is given to cadets who demonstrate excellence in leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character.

Cadet Erickson's dedication and hard work have paid off, as he successfully passed a comprehensive test on leadership and aerospace, as well as a physical fitness test, to earn the promotion to the grade of cadet captain. His commitment to the CAP program is evident through his role as a basic staff training squadron training officer at Hawk Mountain Ranger School, where he utilizes his organizational and search and rescue skills.

In addition to receiving the Amelia Earhart Award, Cadet Erickson also earned the Brigadier General Billy Mitchell Award in April of last year. His accomplishments and ambitions speak to his passion for aviation and his desire to serve his country. He aspires to become an Army Medevac pilot, highlighting his dedication to helping others and making a difference.

Representative Jim Struzzi commended Cadet Erickson on his remarkable accomplishments, stating, "Cadet Erickson's commitment to excellence and his leadership qualities are truly commendable. His achievements in the Civil Air Patrol program exemplify the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. I am proud to recognize Cadet Erickson for his outstanding achievements and wish him continued success in his future endeavors."

Cadet Erickson's success serves as an inspiration to other aspiring cadets in the CAP program, demonstrating that with determination and unwavering commitment, they too can achieve great things. The CAP program provides young individuals with invaluable opportunities to develop leadership skills, engage in aerospace education, and contribute to their communities through various service activities.

The recognition of Cadet Erickson by Representative Struzzi highlights the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the accomplishments of our youth. It serves as a reminder that investing in the development and support of young individuals can lead to a brighter future for our communities and our nation as a whole.
