State Representative Jim Struzzi, a Republican from Indiana, Pennsylvania, has announced significant funding for water infrastructure projects across the state. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board approved 33 projects totaling $216 million in financial aid. This assistance includes $145 million in low-interest loans and $71 million in grants aimed at improving drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source systems.
"Local governments, facility operators and authorities across the Commonwealth are working hard to provide clean drinking water, optimize wastewater systems, replace lead service lines and more," said Struzzi. "PENNVEST helps our local communities with crucial funding to protect public health and to ensure a healthy environment."
The funds originate from both state and federal sources and have been sanctioned by the PENNVEST board. Applications for the next round of funding are open until October 30, before the board's voting meeting on January 22. Additional details about applying for PENNVEST funding can be accessed online.
For over three decades, PENNVEST has supported initiatives that enhance public health and safety while promoting economic development through improved environmental standards and water quality. Funding is available for various stages of project development including construction, design engineering, and permitting related to wastewater treatment, drinking water supply improvements, stormwater management solutions, and addressing non-point source pollution.
Inquiries regarding this round of funding or applications for future rounds can be directed to the PENNVEST board or Representative Struzzi’s office.
