State Representative Jim Struzzi plans to honor the memory of the resilient Robindale community by renaming a section of Power Plant Road as the Robindale Memorial Highway. The town of Robindale, located in Indiana County, was deeply affected by the Johnstown flood of 1977 and other tragedies. Struzzi aims to recognize the community's strength and commitment to preserving their past in a positive way.
In a statement, Struzzi expressed his admiration for the town and its history: "Robindale has a tremendous albeit tragic history. It grew and prospered from its origin in the early 1900s as a town created out of the Conemaugh Smokeless Coal Company. Robindale endured two tragic mining accidents and lives lost because of them, as well as two severe floods which preceded the one in 1977."
By renaming the intersection of Power Plant Road and Routes 711 and 56, Struzzi hopes to keep the story of Robindale alive in the minds of both residents and visitors. This legislative action serves as a symbol of remembrance and recognition for the challenges faced by the community.
Struzzi encourages anyone with questions about this or any other legislative issue to contact his Indiana district office at 724-465-0220.
This renaming initiative demonstrates the commitment of Representative Jim Struzzi to honoring the memory and resilience of the Robindale community. Through this legislative action, the town's history and the strength of its residents will be perpetually remembered and celebrated.
