HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Brian Smith (R-66) have announced the allocation of $721,138 for three Jefferson County infrastructure improvement projects. According to Sen. Dush, "Strategically bundling infrastructure upgrades, drainage improvements, utility work and other quality of life enhancements whenever possible are proven methods to reducing overall construction costs, increasing public safety and minimizing disruptions for Jefferson County residents and job creators." He emphasized the importance of a well-maintained local transportation infrastructure, stating, "We all share the benefits of an adequately funded and properly maintained local transportation infrastructure."

Rep. Brian Smith, drawing from his experience as a former truck driver and trucking business owner, highlighted the critical nature of road maintenance, saying, “Our goods can only get where they need to go if there’s a stretch of asphalt to get them there." Smith expressed gratitude for the funding that will help offset the high costs of essential projects for local municipalities.

The grants for these infrastructure projects were awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. This fund aims to promote economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for the residents of the commonwealth.
