INDIANA – Sen. Joe Pittman (R-41) and Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-62) today, announced the approval of over $14 million in state funding to allow the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority to complete numerous upgrades to its Heilwood, Cherry Tree, and Crooked Creek drinking water systems.
"This substantial funding will go a long way in helping to improve local water systems, by providing new water service and emergency interconnections with neighboring systems," stated Sen. Joe Pittman.
“I am very happy the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority has been awarded this funding through PENNVEST," added Rep. Jim Struzzi.
The funding, approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), consists of an $8.65 million grant and a $5.36 million low-interest loan. These funds will support six projects aimed at enhancing water systems in the area.
Projects include the installation of new water lines in various townships to provide clean drinking water to residents with contaminated on-lot wells and to establish emergency interconnections with neighboring water systems.
Upon completion, the projects are expected to benefit several communities by increasing access to potable water, promoting water conservation, and enhancing water quality.
The approved funding marks a significant step towards improving water infrastructure in Indiana County and ensuring a reliable supply of clean drinking water for local residents.
