Representative Jim Struzzi, serving the 62nd District in Pennsylvania, has announced that several school districts in the area have been awarded grants to enhance safety, security, and mental health support. The funding, totaling $155 million, was approved by the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) and includes allocations from various programs such as the Noncompetitive School Mental Health Grants program and the Competitive School Safety and Security Grants program. The grants were part of the FY 2023-24 state budget.

In a statement, Rep. Struzzi expressed his satisfaction with the allocation, stating, "I am happy to see our schools receive this funding to keep our students safe and provide mental health support." He emphasized the importance of prioritizing education quality, noting that the funding will assist schools in achieving this goal.

The grants will benefit several schools in the 62nd District, with specific amounts allocated to each institution. The recipients include Homer-Center School District, Indiana Area School District, Indiana County Technology Center, Penns Manor Area School District, River Valley School District, United School District, and ARIN IU 28.

This financial support aims to enable these educational institutions to enhance their safety measures, security protocols, and mental health services for the well-being of students and staff members alike. The grants reflect a concerted effort to create a conducive learning environment that prioritizes the holistic development and safety of all individuals within the school community.
