Rep. Abby Major announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved a $745,000 grant for improvements in Ford City Borough. The funding is sourced from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports economic development and transportation safety in the state.
“These improvements will help revitalize the borough in conjunction with the soon-to-be Butler County Community College at Armstrong campus,” Major stated. She credited her predecessor, Rep. Jeff Pyle, for initiating the project and expressed honor in completing his vision for Ford City's revival.
Senator Joe Pittman also commented on the impact of the grant: “The Butler County Community College is going to bring new life to Ford City, and with the help of this grant funding, the street and sidewalk improvements will help to make that possible.”
The grant will fund reconstruction efforts on portions of 3rd and 4th avenues, 11th and 12th streets, and two alleys. Planned upgrades include remediation of roadways covering 11,000 square yards, installation of 2,500 linear feet of curbing, and construction of 1,500 square yards of sidewalk.
Ford City is part of Pennsylvania's 60th Legislative District, which encompasses various townships and boroughs across Armstrong County as well as parts of Butler and Indiana counties.
