Rep. Abby Major has been appointed to chair the House Second Amendment Caucus for the remainder of the 2021-22 Legislative Session, succeeding Rep. Matt Dowling. The announcement was made by both representatives.

“It is an honor to be picked by the current chairman, Rep. Dowling, for this important role,” Major stated. She acknowledged her predecessor, Rep. Jeff Pyle, who led the caucus before Dowling, adding significance to her appointment. Major emphasized her commitment to defending constitutional rights.

Dowling expressed confidence in Major's leadership abilities: “I’m confident Abby will do a fantastic job leading the caucus.” He highlighted his proactive efforts during his tenure to protect and strengthen rights related to lawful gun ownership and mentioned his intention to collaborate with Major against opposition.

The Second Amendment Caucus actively opposes legislative measures perceived as threats to Pennsylvanians' constitutional rights while promoting supportive legislation. The caucus engages with organizations such as Firearms Owners Against Crime, Gun Owners of America, and the National Rifle Association.

The 60th Legislative District includes several townships and boroughs in Armstrong County and parts of Butler and Indiana Counties until November 30. Similarly, the 51st Legislative District encompasses areas in Fayette and Somerset Counties.
