Rep. Jim Struzzi announced that several school districts in the 62nd District have been awarded funds to enhance safety, security, and mental health support. The funding comes from the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC), which approved $155 million from various programs as part of the FY 2023-24 state budget.

The funds were allocated through the Noncompetitive School Mental Health Grants program, Formula-Based School Safety and Security Meritorious Grants program, Competitive School Safety and Security Grants program, and Targeted School Safety Grants for Nonpublic Schools funding program.

"I am happy to see our schools receive this funding to keep our students safe and provide mental health support," said Struzzi. "Improving the quality of education must always be a top priority for legislators; this funding will help our schools do exactly that."

The grants were distributed among several schools serving students in the 62nd District: Homer-Center School District received $546,339; Indiana Area School District was granted $174,601; Indiana County Technology Center got $70,000; Penns Manor Area School District obtained $348,652; River Valley School District received $152,344; United School District was given $141,672; ARIN IU 28 also received $70,000.
