Sen. Cris Dush and Rep. Paul Takac have announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded over $1 million in grants for infrastructure improvement projects in Centre County. This funding is part of their joint efforts to prioritize infrastructure over politics and address the critical needs of the county.
The grants are aimed at supporting various projects in Centre County. The Beech Creek Borough Authority has been awarded $171,505 for the Franklin Street Waterline Extension project located in Liberty Township. The Mid-Centre County Authority will receive $559,000 to rehabilitate a disk filter tank and disinfection system, as well as install upgrades to the treatment plant in Boggs Township. Additionally, the Mid-Centre County Authority will use $218,658 for upgrades to Pump Station Number 1 in Boggs Township. Lastly, the Mountaintop Regional Water Authority has been granted $78,889 to improve the water distribution system in Snow Shoe Borough.
Sen. Dush and Rep. Takac have been working together to secure funding for Centre County throughout the year, and these grants are a testament to their commitment. In 2023 alone, they have successfully secured more than $2.5 million for various projects in the county.
Sen. Dush expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Centre County and is optimistic about the future. He stated, "I’m thankful he and I have been able to serve the people of Centre County, and I look forward to building on the funding we’ve secured this year in 2024."
Rep. Takac also emphasized the importance of collaboration and delivering for the communities they serve. He said, "At the beginning of the year, Sen. Dush and I made a commitment to work together... I look forward to working with the senator and his team in the new year on even more opportunities and projects to benefit the Centre County residents."
The funding for these infrastructure improvement projects is being provided through the CFA's Local Share Account (LSA) program, which utilizes gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest across the state.
With the grants awarded, Centre County can now proceed with these essential infrastructure upgrades, ensuring the well-being and development of its communities.
