State Senator Cris Dush | Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania State Government Committee Chairman, Senator Cris Dush, is set to lead a public hearing with testimonies from Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. The session will focus on best practices for maintaining voter lists and the issues related to outsourcing this task to private companies. Additionally, the hearing will address why these states have exited the Electronic Registration and Information Center (ERIC).
A total of nine states, including Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Missouri, West Virginia, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, and Texas have left ERIC due to concerns over data privacy, transparency, and partisanship.
The Senate State Government Committee has significant oversight responsibilities concerning the executive branch. This includes overseeing the Office of the Governor as well as various departments such as State and General Services. The committee also plays a role in developing legislation related to campaigns and elections.
The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18 at 9 a.m., taking place in Hearing Room 1 at the North Office Building within the State Capitol Complex. It will be available for live streaming through the Pennsylvania Senate GOP website.
