FOIA Request to Indiana County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central PA News have sent a formal request to the Indiana County Election Department under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq.
Our request specifically seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. The requested details include the candidate's first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and their party affiliation.
Additionally, we have asked for all contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that by disseminating this information we can contribute towards a more informed electorate and a more transparent political process.
We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in gathering and reporting news to the public. We await a response from the Indiana County Election Department regarding our request.
