On March 5, 2025, Penn Highlands Healthcare inaugurated its new Specialty Pharmacy in DuBois. The opening ceremony was attended by healthcare leaders and members of the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce. The pharmacy is located at 720 S. Main Street in DuBois.

Will Chinn, President of Penn Highlands DuBois and Penn Highlands Clearfield, along with Michelle Bennett, Pharm D, BCPS, System Director of Retail Pharmacy at Penn Highlands Healthcare, delivered opening remarks.

Penn Highlands Specialty Pharmacy is designed to cater to patients with complex medical conditions such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. It offers specialized services including medications that require special handling and personalized co-pay assistance programs. Pharmacists work directly with medical providers to manage prescriptions, which are sent from physicians and delivered to patients by mail or local courier service.

“By opening this specialty pharmacy, Penn Highlands Healthcare is expanding regional access to a wide variety of medications to treat complex health issues and chronic conditions,” explained Michelle prior to the ribbon cutting. “We provide local access to these vital medications with faster turnaround times, free delivery and the ability to ship anywhere in Pennsylvania for those without a specialty pharmacy nearby."

Will Chinn emphasized the commitment of Penn Highlands Healthcare to enhancing regional access to primary care and advanced healthcare services: “Our health system was founded on the principle that we would exist to improve regional access to a wide array of premier primary care and advanced healthcare services -- and we are confident that the opening of this specialty pharmacy aligns with our mission.”

The new facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Community members who do not require medications for complex conditions are advised to continue using their current pharmacies. Besides the Specialty Pharmacy in DuBois, Penn Highlands Healthcare provides full-service community retail pharmacies across various locations including Brockway, Brookville, Clarion, Kane, Punxsutawney, Reynoldsville, Ridgway, St. Marys, State College, Weedville and surrounding areas.

Michelle Bennett and Will Chinn led the ribbon-cutting ceremony surrounded by representatives from Omnicell and members of the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce.
