Daniel Blough CEO | Punxsutawney Area Hospital
The Punxsutawney Area Hospital is set to honor the dedication and hard work of its staff members during National Hospital Week 2025. In line with this observance, the hospital will present the newly-established CARE Award to one member of its staff.
The CARE Award Recognition program has been introduced to shine a light on the exceptional efforts of the hospital's workforce. The hospital acknowledges the importance of teamwork in delivering top-notch care to its patients. This program aims to recognize the contributions of staff members who do not qualify for the DAISY Award, which is exclusively for nursing professionals, yet hold an equally vital role within the organization.
CARE stands for Compassion, Admirable attributes, Respect, and Excellence. The award honors staff members who show compassion and care towards patients, possess admirable qualities, demonstrate respect for everyone in the hospital environment, and perform their duties with excellence.
Nominations for the CARE Award can be submitted by anyone who observes or experiences exceptional care or exemplary work from any staff member. This includes submissions from patients, family members, co-workers, physicians, and other hospital staff. Notably, nominations for nurses under this program will also be forwarded to the DAISY Committee for consideration.
Each year, one recipient will be selected for the CARE Award. While the exact number of nominees receiving recognition is up to the committee's discretion, the annual award maintains its prestige by being awarded only once a year. The top CARE nominees will be announced as part of the National Hospital Week celebrations.
